GetJet Airlines signed an agreement with tour operator ITAKA and will operate the first direct flights from Vilnius to Kenya

IOSA-certified Lithuanian ACMI and charter carrier GetJet Airlines has started cooperation with one of the largest tour operators in Central Europe ITAKA. Lithuanian AOC will provide charter services and carry passengers to winter vacation destinations, including direct flights from Vilnius to Kenya for the first time.

The cooperation agreement between the tour operator and charter airlines has been signed for the entire winter season. Together, the companies will offer travelers one of the most exciting news of the upcoming winter season – direct flights to Kenya’s second most populous city, Mombasa.

Leonidas Močeņovs, CEO of ITAKA, says that ITAKA has already earned the title of an exclusive tour operator in the eyes of the public, and it aims to continue to surprise even experienced travelers by offering more and more new and undiscovered destinations: “This year’s the most unique destination is Kenya. We are happy that in cooperation with GetJet Airlines we will be able to offer travelers direct flights, ensuring the highest quality of services”, says L. Močeņovs.

According to Rūta Kulvinskaitė, CEO of GetJet Airlines, the new partnership opens up new flight routes for airlines.

“We have already accumulated considerable experience in charter flights. In summer we carry travelers to popular summer destinations like Turkey, and Greece, and in the winter season to Egypt, Tenerife, and to ski in Salzburg, Austria. The new partnership will expand our flight geography, with our aircraft landing at the Marsa Alam resort in Egypt for the first time, and flying travelers to exotic Kenya early next year. These flights will be non-stop with only a short technical stopover in Hurghada, Egypt. We are happy to be the first to fly Lithuanians more than 6,000 km directly to Kenya,” says R. Kulvinskaitė about the new partnership.

The tour operator ITAKA together with GetJet Airlines will open the winter season with flights to Marsa Alam at the end of October. At the beginning of 2024, 5 direct flights to Kenya are planned, and in the spring GetJet Airlines will carry passengers to exotic Madeira.

For the first time, one of the largest tour operators in Central Europe chose a charter flight operator from the Baltics. According to L. Močeņovs, this decision was determined by the experience of GetJet Airlines in operating charter flights and the quality of the services offered.

“Direct flights to Kenya take as long as 11 hours, which is a serious challenge for flight planners, pilots, and flight attendants. Therefore, we chose our flight partner very responsibly. The decision to work with GetJet Airlines was determined by their long-term experience, indisputable professionalism, and reliability. We are happy with the new partnership, which we believe will grow and, in the future, will allow us to continue delighting Lithuanian travelers by presenting even more unique destinations,” says L. Močeņovsas.

According to the CEO of the charter company, GetJet Airlines is one of the few airlines in the region that can quickly offer partners a replacement aircraft with a full crew and thus ensure non-stop flights.

ITAKA is one of the largest tour operators in Central Europe and operates not only in Lithuania, but also in Poland, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. ITAKA organizes travels to more than 15 different countries around the world with regular and charter flights from Lithuania.
